A vocal contractor is the person who provides exactly the correct combination of voice talent and musicianship skills that are necessary to create the right sound, serving a composer's vision. The contractor also acts as the singer's liaison with the employing studio and the performers union, SAG-AFTRA and must be one of the singers on the job.

Contracted by Sally Stevens, the Hollywood Film Chorale Sound Effects Choir, performed "sound effects" of various natures, with human voices.
Composer / Conductor Steve Sidwell created the vocal sound effects concept originally for a Honda Commercial, which the director the OSCARS heard and asked him to re-create a similar number for the OSCARS, with vocal sound effects to filmatic scenes.
