Day 20 of Poetry Month...

“Dear Land in Conflict...

Troubled and bewildered,

within the lines on carefully chosen pages,

where no two words are read the same

and no two listeners share the overlapping blame.

Where stubborn lines are drawn that keep

the truth from slipping into view.

A house divided cannot stand,

with dignity abandoned, carefully planned.

The slippery slope’s begun, and where it ends…

on fortitude and courage that depends.

The heart that breaks is not the heart that wins.

 Dear honest seeker, think again…

 dear would-be patriot,

 dear wiser judge of men.”
